Hula Makes You Happy

Graduation

When haumana complete their programs, they perform for the other classes and family and friends. The third Hula Mai Beginning Class and second Continuing Class graduated October 28, 2011.

The Fall 2011 Graduating Class performs its first show and dances for the first time to live music, provided by the Hula Mai Band. These students have been taking hula lessons for just eight weeks.They are joined by the Hula Mai Continuing Class, and teacher Betty Ann Bruno. Please click on the video below to watch.

The Hula Mai musicians playing for this graduation show are: Linda Green, uke bass and vocals ( she also graduated as a Hula Mai dancer on this day); Clay Wilson, uke and vocals; Mary Ayres, uke and vocals; Kimo "Cowboy" Kamahele, uke and vocals; Grant Bodwell, guitar and vocals; Mark Tuel, vocals.


Here are the graduating haumana of November 5, 2010. Many of them are now students in the Hula Mai Continuing Class and some are performers in the Hula Mai Road Show.


Hula Mai Winter Workshops will begin on Friday, January 6, and will be on Fridays through March 2, except February 10. That's Volunteer Appreciation Day and Stone Hall will be the scene of the big luncheon. You may remember, Hula Mai was the program at the event this past February. 

    The Continuing Class Workshops will be Fridays from 11 - 12:30 and Intermediate Hula will be from 12:30 to 2:00. 

    On Mondays beginning January 9, the Kahiko class will be at En-er-gy from 1 - 2:30 and Open Practice will follow for 2 hours after that.
