| Mele Na Kupuna was born in the fall of 2009 because several "haumana" (hula students) wanted to learn to sing Hawaiian songs. Michael Sheffield, a conservatory graduate and lifelong poet and musician, leads the group with help from Mark Wardell-Tuel, who also sings in several other choruses in Sonoma Valley. Mele Na Kupuna rehearses every Thursday afternoon from 4 - 5:15 p.m.
