Hula Makes You Happy

Before there was Hula Mai
There was Daisy, the Hula Cat

I woke up, stretched, then hopped off the bed. I had slept alone because staff (that's Mary and Adrian) had gone somewhere called Hawaii. I decided not to go. I always decide not to go. I'm a cat. Why would I want to go anywhere?

While it's nice having staff to wait on me whenever I want, it's also nice having the house to myself. When they're gone I can hop up on the dining room table and drink out of the bowl with the flowers in it.

When Mary and Adrian came back from Hawaii they brought me a beautiful lei made of purple dendrobian orchids. They said, "Daisy, it goes with your walk and it's a perfect color for you!  Let's do the hula for our guests when they come for dinner."

The next morning after Adrian drove off wherever he goes to earn money for cat food, Mary made me a small, grass skirt, dressed me in the lei, put on some  Hawaiian music and I danced!

Soon I found hula made me happy too. I danced for staff and their friends for many years. I loved to dress up and dance the hula!  I became famous around my neighborhood. Humans called me Daisy the Hula Cat.

One day I came here to Kitty Heaven to dance. My orange Hilo Hattie lei and hula skirt are here with me.  I look down from Kitty Heaven and purrrrr as I see Mary dancing with all of her new hula sisters at Hula Mai! I wish I could dance with them too.

Hula classes resume Friday, September 17.
No experience, no coconut shells, no grass skirts necessary. Beginning and returning students welcome.
Give Linda Gavron, Program Director at Vintage House a call for more information at 707-996-0311.

Remember, hula makes you happy!
