Although Betty Ann was born in the Islands, she grew up in
California and has always honored her Hawaiian ancestry through the hula. She
detoured from dancing while she pursued a long career as a news reporter and producer and
raised three sons, but now, retired here in Sonoma with her husband, Craig
Scheiner, Betty Ann enjoys being able to share her love and knowledge of
Hawaiian dancing with others.

Costumes
Linda and Minta are responsible for the costumes Hula Mai dancers and singers will wear for the June 25th ho'iki in the Grinstead Amphitheatre at the Sonoma Plaza. They must choose the fabrics that will be used, acquire it, and organize a team of Hula Mai seamstresses and seamster (Craig) to make the wardrobes. So far they have six or seven committed folks raring to sew.
Minta, Betty Ann, and Linda consider different fabrics
Hula classes resume Friday, September 17. No experience, no coconut shells, no grass skirts necessary. Beginning and returning students welcome. Give Linda Gavron, Program Director at Vintage House a call for more information at 707-996-0311.
